Our Society has been founded to participate in the Missionary Activity of the Church through the spread of the Gospel and the service of the Church firstly in the Caribbean and then in other parts of the World. The proclamation of Christ exalted on the Cross and drawing all peoples to himself is a most powerful means of freeing us all from selfishness, and of bringing together into one heart and one mind the People of God whom we serve. This is expressed in various ways.
The parish apostolate, with all its diversity of forms, is one means of expressing the missionary dimension of our Society.
Our Bishop has entrusted to our Society the parish apostolate of Saint Vincent Strambi Catholic Church Community situated in the south-central section of the Diocese as well as Our Lady Star of the Sea Mission situated in Treasure Beach.
Each year new persons come in to our Church community or are received into full communion with the Catholic Church.
Equipped with a missionary charism, our Society gives life to educational undertakings to permeate them with the Gospel spirit of freedom and charity in which "young people are helped to mature humanly under the action of the Spirit" (Gravissimum Educations, 8). Hence the Mission Society also runs a High School in the Diocese of Mandeville. Under the Patronage of Saint Vincent Strambi, a great Missionary and Passionist Bishop, the Brothers and Fathers teach, exhort, befriend and evangelize the youth that have been entrusted to their care.
In carrying out our Missionary endeavours, we have a special love for those who are often neglected: the sick, the abandoned, the orphans and homeless children, the poor who cannot access education. We see in all these needy brothers and sisters the face of the suffering Christ. Therefore one of our apostolates is the support of poor students who cannot access education. We find sponsors to pay the school fee and thus open the door to the future for these youths. We also run a children's home called, "Our Lady of Hope Children's Home" in honour of Our Lady of Holy Hope, Patroness of our Diocese.
